Autumn Blog
While I love the cool crisp air that fall brings, it’s also a bittersweet reminder of how quickly this year has flown. I’m starting to understand why people leave their lights up year round.
Tyler recently had a career day at his school. He had thoughts of dressing up as a garbage truck driver. His mom and I asked him if it was because of his love of garbage trucks. He responded it’s because “they only have to work on Mondays.” We haven’t had the heart to tell him otherwise. Tyler’s officially a kindergartener. I’m officially a soccer dad/coach. We’re fully entrenched in all the busyness this stage of life brings and loving it.
This time of year has always been special for me but it’s now more magical than ever. We carved a pumpkin over the weekend. We’ll watch Tyler and his classmates in their Halloween parade tomorrow. Then it’s trying to convince Han to let me put the lights back up on the house before Thanksgiving. And with Thanksgiving quickly approaching, I find myself reflecting and feeling immense gratitude.
In this time of uncertainty in the world and all that’s happening socially, geo-politically and economically, I’m especially grateful for all that we have. I’m grateful for good health and security. I’m grateful for time and the ability to be present. And at the top of that list are family, friends and loved ones. It’s you all that bring so much joy and meaning to my life – I’m grateful to be on this journey with you. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season filled with love, laughter and time with friends and family.
